Late night (po-po) cruise meet-up. Ruining the quiet serenity of people enjoying their cars in a late night public car park. Lol.
Yep, ex-U.S.A. Sheriff Ford Crown Victoria alongside a Vauxhall Astra estate.

What is the practical purpose of importing this?

There are a couple of police forces that use them as display cars for promoting the police, many get used in the film industry and they are quite common for U.S. car collectors.

That’s quite a special market. I like it though.

They can tailor a car to anyone of 38,000 U.S. liveries or whatever you want made be put on it.
The thing I find cool is that they sell to the U.K. and Europe and will meet you if you fly into one of the London airports and refund the cost of your flight up to £250 if you buy a car.
You can hire them and if you live in Kent they will drive you to France for a weekend of shopping or holiday and they’ll drive you about and drive you home afterwards.

There’s just something so neat about seeing a Crown Victoria police car overseas.

I’m the same when ever I see a union flag be it a union flag flying abroad or where the union flag is the canton of another nation or state such as Hawaii or Australia.

None. They’re used for impractical purposes!

The fuel bil alone would put me right off. Not to mention driving it about in a small city and parking it.

I know it includes the cost of shipping and customs, but man, Crown Vics cost 10% of that in their home market. Crazy what limited supply will do if there’s any demand at all.

You can get them from other sources much much cheaper or even holiday in the U.S. And have one brought back. I guess these are the cream of the crop and the best pickings of the cars available in the states.
There are two currently on auction on eBay for £3,000 and £3,395 respectively.

This is so awesome to me! The second line, right column, “Howard Co Sherrif”, that’s the county next to the one I grew up in, so I used to see those cars around frequently. Crazy.
Also, those cars look really clean, which is probably why they want so much money for them. Most cop cars get worked to death. My dad’s friend had a body shop and had a contract with the local police and always had 2 of their cars in his shop, it seemed.

That’s more in line with US prices. If the ones above are being sold with liveries that could be a reason to command higher prices, as most of the ex-cop cars here need to have the logos and lights stripped before they can be sold to civilians.

Insurance, parts, tax, wheel on the wrong side...long list. There’s always someone who thinks life incomplete without something like this though I wouldn’t take one free.

But it’s got pleb bars on it and a V8 in it. Choose regular sized parking space - shunt first car forwards - reverse park as normal :D

It does say on the website they can sell the cars anywhere, except the U.S.A.
Foreign liveries are okay with cars like these allowed on U.K. roads (some real and some fake foreign police cars).
For sale on eBay U.K. Japanese police car for £4,000 the 2006 5.7litre Hemi for £9,995

You’d think so but no. You’d just be classed as the doush driving an American car with show off police livery from a foreign country.

Insurance could go either way (rare enough to not be branded a high risk), parts are plentiful and easily obtained from North America or middle east, tax would be high on it though driving a lefty wouldn’t really be an issue but ye’, I wouldn’t even entertain the notion of owning one even if it was given.

I meant in the US, but yea. I’ve parked and driven 11 person vans in small European cites, it’s not as easy but not that bad either.

Most U.K. roads aren’t geared up for U.S. size vehicles. I live in Cumbria where some of the roads in the countryside are nail biting in a Skoda Superb never mind a Crown Vic. Even parking it would either mean getting a door mirror taken off or parking in a car park would mean I wouldn’t be able to get out if there was a car parked in the bay alongside.
My baby-girl isn’t small.
But the Crown Vic is 55cm longer and 14cm wider.

I lived in the U.K. for years...never had an issue with my 4th Gen 4runner or 03 Sequoia....but some people get really tweaked out driving big vehicles on those roads. I agree that I wouldn’t own a panther platform vehicle in any country.
